blessed |blest; ˈblesid| |blɛst| |ˈblɛsəd| |ˈblɛsɪd| |blɛst|
Psalm 103:1-2 MSG
(1) A David psalm. O my soul, bless GOD. From head to toe, I'll bless his holy name!
(2) O my soul, bless GOD, don't forget a single blessing…

Levels of Blessing…
1. God blesses his people when he bestows on them some gift temporal or spiritual
Job 42:12-17 (MSG)
(12) GOD blessed Job's later life even more than his earlier life. He ended up with fourteen thousand sheep, six thousand camels, one thousand teams of oxen, and one thousand donkeys.
(13) He also had seven sons and three daughters.
(14) He named the first daughter Dove, the second, Cinnamon, and the third, Dark eyes.
(15) There was not a woman in that country as beautiful as Job's daughters. Their father treated them as equals with their brothers, providing the same inheritance.
(16) Job lived on another hundred and forty years, living to see his children and grandchildren--four generations of them!
(17) Then he died--an old man, a full life.

2. We bless God when we thank him for his mercies…
Psalm 145:1-7 (MSG)

(2) I'll bless you every day, and keep it up from now to eternity.
(3) GOD is magnificent; he can never be praised enough. There are no boundaries to his greatness.
(4) Generation after generation stands in awe of your work; each one tells stories of your mighty acts.
(5) Your beauty and splendor have everyone talking; I compose songs on your wonders.
(6) Your marvelous doings are headline news; I could write a book full of the details of your greatness.
(7) The fame of your goodness spreads across the country; your righteousness is on everyone's lips.

3. A man blesses himself when he invokes God's blessing, or rejoices in God's goodness to him
Isa 65:16-17 (MKJV)
(16) He who blesses himself in the earth shall bless himself in the God of truth. And he who swears in the earth will swear by the God of truth; because the former troubles are forgotten, and because they are hidden from My eyes.
(17) For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth. And the things before will not be remembered, nor come to mind.

Barnes:
“The favor of God shall be restored. His pure worship shall be re-established, and his name shall be celebrated again in the land. The image here is one of returning prosperity and favor; a state when the happiness will be so great that all the former trials will be regarded as not worthy of recollection.”

4. One blesses another when he expresses good wishes or offers prayer to God for his welfare .
Gen 31:55 AMP
